I was at Farmers Market several weeks ago and was handed a flyer for a kid's cooking class. Since we watch a lot of Food Network at home I asked the kids if they were interested. I like the idea of a professional teaching them simple things like knife skills (my reaction to a child with a knife is a little hysterical and defeats the effort). Since then the kidlets have gone to Chef Jacklene's in La Canada. She teaches out of her own home on Saturday mornings. They've learned how to make French bread and Shepherd's Pie, among other tasty treats. The kids love it!
What I love is that a 3-minute drive takes us to a professional chef willing to teach my kids to cook! For more information:
